The purpose of the sandpaper numbers is to teach children the symbols that represent each number. The sand paper numbers allow them visually identify numbers from 0 – 9 and also due to the tactile feel of the number cards, the material also prepares children for the writing of numerals, which can be used as an extension activity for the Sandpaper Numbers.
Children are usually introduced to the sandpaper numbers from three years of age.

The paint that is used for the tiles is non toxic, safe for small children. The tiles can be cleaned with a damp cloth but as any wood they don’t react well if they are exposed to water.
